History

In 1993, a small group of glass beadmakers gathered at an exhibit of contemporary glass beads sponsored by The Bead Museum in Prescott, Arizona. During this meeting, they established an organization dedicated to promoting the growth and recognition of glass beadmaking.  The goal of this organization was to facilitate communication and mentoring among members, and educate the public about the process of beadmaking and the artistic value of glass beads.  Thus was born the Society of Glass Beadmakers.

The organization grew rapidly, surpassing 400 members in its first five years.  Beadmakers formed regional groups, and members joined from various countries. Gatherings took place annually, furthering the mission of the SGB.  Ten years later, the organization became known as the International Society of Glass Beadmakers.

Here are a few historical facts about the ISGB.
