I recently took an online class with Stephanie Sersich through Arizona Society of Glass Beadmakers. I enjoyed using my Bullseye glass again after a long hiatus. I’ve been having fun making flowers and plan to make some earrings.

Here is an image of what I have created after taking 3 ISGB classes. #1 Jennie Lamb - "Beneath the Waves" #2 Corina Tettinger-" Rain forest Beads" #3 Ikuyo-"3D Flower  beads, I chose to create all the elements using Bullseye and then I fused them into Pendants. I am having a fabulous creative time. Thank-you to the ISGB for these wonderful classes. I am combining what I learned in all 3 classes and I am very happy with the results.

I took Joy Munshower’s Sea Life class at Glass Craft. The class was incredible, I learned about the fine details of relief sculpture.  I’m looking forward to trying more sea life on my own. I really enjoyed the challenge of taking what I learned and shrinking it down to the size that I like to work.

I am submitting my bead that I made after taking the online workshop, "Reverse Enamel Painting on Glass," with Bronwen Heilman. The technique that Bronwen shared with us inspired me to create several landscape painted beads. I loved the vibrancy of colors that the enamels created that gave the bead a true feel of an impressionist-style painting.

The most fun I’ve had with an online class was Marcy Lamberson’s Whimsical Birds which I took last winter.  Well, winter is over and it’s time for all of us, including  birds, to get into bathing suits.  As challenging as glass is, it can be crazy fun too.  I think that’s what gets me through the difficult challenges!

I was inspired by all the vibrant colors in Thailand.

I took a two week in person class entitled "Blown Glass Beads: Skills and Shapes" at The Penland School for Crafts with Caterina Zucchi from Livorno, Italy.  The inspiration for me to take this class is to learn to reduce the weight of the large focal beads that I love to make.  Caterina is a wonderful teacher, and Penland is a spectacular multi-disciplinary venue, immersing their students in a creative experience.  I was thrilled to be there!

Spruill Arts Intermediate Beadmaking: class on Ribbon Beads by Margo Knight.

On my first attempts to make the ribbon bead, my twisty was off center. I had used blue and purple, and my instructor commented how much like a flame that could look with different colors. So - then I had to work to have the “ribbon” or twisty slightly off center to allow the dark base bead shine through.

Now one of my favorite “fire” beads.

I would like to submit this entry. I took The Whimsical Bird Clip-on Ornament class with Marcy Lamberson. This is my Christmas ornament for this year and it was inspired by the class. These are the cutest little birds and Marcy is just the best teacher!

I recently attended the Soft Glass Invitational retreat in Pennsylvania where the wonderful Kim Fields was the featured instructor for 3 glorious days!  We explored all sorts of techniques including floral murrini, encasing and sculptural work.  Kim of course demonstrated a few of her signature 3D relief style beads!  She is such a kind and giving instructor willing to show us so many tips and dare I say secrets!  A wonderful time was had by all.

I just took a class in Mokume Gane with Astrid Riedel. The class was held at Perle Art studio in The Netherlands.

I was in Murano a year ago and fell in love with a pair of Mokume Gane earrings that I bought.  From that moment I wanted to learn the technique.  I was lucky Astrid was teaching the technique at a studio so close to me.

This is a large lentil bead I made.

Aquatics #3 "Hawaiian Reef" with Deb Crowley @ the Summer 2022 intensive at the Pittsburgh Glass Center. What inspired me was attempting to capture marine life with as much realism as possible and Deb is an amazing artist with incredible skills in this area.

This is an Eastern Bluebird inspired by Marcy Lamberson’s ISGB online Bird Class. I loved Marcy’s style of teaching and her illustrations which break down each step. I have made several other birds. Now that I have become a docent who gives tours at the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, I plan to focus on Arizona birds. Everyone is always asking what that bird is! I am quite challenged by the roadrunner and quail!

I took two online classes from Terry Henry. I am fairly new to lampworking and had never tried creating a glass headpin before this class. I love flowers and enjoy the free-forming that comes with sculpting imaginary flowers into a bouquet to wear as a glorious necklace. Terry was an inspiring and thoughtful teacher.

The class I took was at the Corning Museum of Glass with Jeri Warhaftig. Kiln Casting and Sandblasting. This class challenged and inspired me to try new mediums and to use glass and color in ways I had never tried before. Great class and great teacher!
